Job Description

Spherion has partnered with a a fully integrated consulting firm that provides high quality and cost effective services seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their Fort Myers team. The function of the Project Engineer is to plan, organize, and control the activities of the project to best accomplish the successful completion of all projects to which assigned while operating within the guidelines established by the Project Manager, and within established schedules, budgets, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) policy constraints. Typical projects will entail general Civil Engineering with an emphasis on civil/site, roads, and utility design.

Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:

Performs overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans) and reports regularly on project status to Project Manager.
Monitors compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
Responsible for the design concept of the plans and specifications.
Supports project team toward preparation of a professional, economical, and effective set of plans and specifications for each individual project.
Supervises, coordinates, and reviews work of engineers, technicians, and designers.
Communicates directly with governmental/regulatory staff relative to design concepts and requirements. Represents clients at regulatory agency hearings or meetings.
Consults and advises field engineers, contractors, and inspectors regarding the construction phase of the project.
Schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates and budgets.
Conducts engineering computations to design difficult and complex engineering projects.
Communicates with the Project Manager on project strategy and matters that may impact the outcome of a project.
Assists in preparation of project proposals including scope of work, time schedule, and manpower estimates.
Assists in preparation of proposals for substantial projects.
Promotes new business for the total company and for own area of expertise.
The position requires sufficient physical abilities and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based upon project schedules. Frequent site visits may be necessary. Overnight stays may be required for project oversight.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership potential with a desire to develop into a management position.
Sound mathematical skills are required.
A working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.

Education:
Bachelors

Experience:
4-7 years

Qualifications:
BS in Civil Engineering required.
An advanced degree in the area of work specialization is desirable.
Minimum of six years of design experience is preferred.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred.
