Job Description

Spherion Staffing is looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager in the Sioux Falls area. As the leader of the purchasing department, the Purchasing Manager will manage all aspects of purchasing to efficiently and cost-effectively support the company's organizational operations. The Purchasing Manager will lead a team in maximizing buying opportunities, increasing profit margins, increasing inventory turns, and controlling expenses.
This individual will be overseeing a team of 2 and will report to the President of the company.

Salary $55-65k/year DOE


- Establish and implement purchasing policies, procedures, work flows, and best practices
- Monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
- Direct procurement policies to ensure items are purchased and delivered within approved budget and time constraints
- Identify and source new suppliers and vendors
- Manage vendor and supplier selections process based on price, quality, support, capacity, and reliability
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors
- Establish and update approved vendor/supplier database agreements
- Develop, negotiate, and administer purchasing agreements and contract with suppliers in support of the company's organizational requirements
- Monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cost, quality, and delivery concerns
- Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery, and supply of purchases
- Introduce performance improvement measures for suppliers and vendors
- Collaborate with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements
- Facilitate timely placement of purchase orders
- Review purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and procedures
- Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectives
- Regularly report on purchase commitments, costs, and delivery performance
- Oversee the operations and daily activities of the purchasing department
- Develop and motivate purchasing staff and manage performance
- Direct continuous improvement of purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions

-Supervisory experience required
-College degree in business, material management, operations management, or extensive prior experience in purchasing, materials management, operations management, or a related field
