Job Description

New opportunity to work with market leader in the Charleston area. This company is looking for someone that is a forward thinker, and self manager. You could possibly work remotely 1-3 days a week but you need to be the type of person that can lead and manage in that work setting. Will be interacting with production, logistics, marketing and sales from multiple areas of the world. Initially work with team on-site until knowledge of company and culture are understood.

Works to strategically purchase materials through sourcing and building strong relationships with current and new vendors and suppliers. Strategically secures new sourcing avenues and negotiates terms with suppliers examining price, suitability and availability of items or services. Compares specifications and reviews alternatives. Aids the Marketing Department on new production builds and prototypes. Provides management and strategic leadership for the purchasing department with focus on supporting company objectives, planning and organization and process improvements. Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Global Director of Operations.

Responsibilities:
Leads the purchasing department in supporting company objectives. Oversees departmental activities and looks to improve processes, increase departmental efficiencies, ensure proper documentation and controls are in place and supervision and development of direct report.
??? Performs the planning and purchasing functions of products and materials, both internationally and domestically. Must have the ability to understand the buying and planning process conceptually and how it functions absent an ERP system.
??? Identifies and selects vendors to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery dates. Studies market trends and analyzes quotations received to ensure optimum pricing.
??? Proactively takes the lead to resolve quality problems with suppliers of purchased material. This includes problem solving with suppliers on new product development, including transportation, packaging and specifications.
??? Creates and analyzes vendor scorecards to ensure vendors are consistently and effectively meeting the needs of the Company. Identifies vendors who do not consistently meet the terms of the contracts and develops problem-solving methods.
??? Supports and leads by example the Core Values of the organization.

Working hours: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
--There will be additional purchasing responsibilities internationally, predominately Europe.
--An understanding of the SIOP process used within manufacturing is a plus.
--The ability to work independently with minimal supervision to oversee the entire purchasing process for North America, with some international purchasing involvement.
--Must be a leader, that is comfortable organizing and presenting information, and leading meetings.
--Must fully understand the MOQs and SPQ's. Must have a thorough knowledge of MRP and MPS processes and how it affects purchasing.
--Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards (Oracle) or SAP is highly preferred.
--Must have experience with purchasing and negotiating both domestically and internationally.
--Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
--Must be able to communicate orally in a clear and professional manner and respond well to questions and challenges. Must be able to write clearly and informatively.
--Must have high-level of energy, drive and initiative.

Experience:
4-7 years

Qualifications:
??? This position requires a Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university. Preferably in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management - APICS or ISM certification preferred.
??? Minimum of 6 years of related procurement experience, with some of that being in a leadership role. Experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment is required.
