Job Description

Spherion is looking for an experienced QA Supervisor for a busy business located in Pelion, South Carolina! This is a permanent position and they are interviewing this week!

This position will assist in achieving QA departmental goals and efficiencies while supervising the compliance of the company Food Safety Programs

Responsibilities:
Oversee Quality Assurance Technicians and Receivers
Verify HACCP critical control points and process control points are in compliance with specifications and limits
Ensure corrective actions are taken when process is out of specifications. Investigate cause of deviation. Coordinate with production and take preventive measure to avoid re-occurrence
Direct and verify that QA testing and QA inspection procedures are followed according to company specifications
Reinforce compliance with GMP, SOPs, SSOPs, company policies and specifications
Collect and verify all food safety documents are in compliance with company standards
Communicate and coordinate with operations and warehouse about quality and/or food safety issues
Assist QA Manager in Food Safety and Food Security Training
Assist QA manager during FDA, USDA and/ or third party audits
Establishing and maintaining a positive work environment within QA technicians
Other duties as assigned by QA Manager

Working hours: Multiple shifts including weekends

Qualifications:
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Able to successfully work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel to each location. Total travel time may be up to 25% of the time.
Ability to facilitate implementation of corporate food safety and quality control systems in a positive and proactive manner.
Ability to work in varying temperatures ranging from -20F to 100F
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
Excellent multitasking abilities and stress tolerance

Preferred Education & Experience:
An undergraduate degree in food science, biology, microbiology (highly preferred), or associated discipline.
Fluency in written and spoken English. Ability to speak, write, or read Spanish a plus.
Laboratory and supervisory experience
Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, procedures and protocols
