Job Description

Spherion is seeking a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) for our client. A professional, well-established surveyor firm, servicing residential, commercial and governmental clients throughout Texas and Oklahoma, located in Temple, Texas.
The RPLS reports directly to the Survey Office Manager and will manage a staff of field crews and technicians, ensuring all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Effective communication and the ability to maintain strong client relationships, as well as, the ability to oversee survey projects are all vital to the success of the person in this role. Assigned projects are related to surveying land surfaces to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, land division, titles or other purposes. Responsibilities also include performing calculations, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Ensures timely and accurate delivery of each project.
- Manages day-to- day operation aspects of each surveying project and scope.
- Effectively applies methodology and enforces project standards.
- Minimizes exposure and risk on projects.
- Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Supervises assigned staff; prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; counsels, evaluates, coaches, trains and instructs employees as required.
- Coordinates a variety of administrative activities, including budgeting, employee scheduling, job/payroll reporting and report processing.

Working hours: 8am to 5pm

Qualifications/Skills; Knowledge Requirements:
-Must have knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of surveying (Including boundary determination), mapping, construction staking, & ALTA surveys.
-Work requires a good command of the English language, oral and written communication.
-Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative management, including budgeting, employee supervision and training.
-Must have skill in operating a personal computer and a variety of software applications including drafting, word processing, spreadsheets and database software.
-Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
--Work requires continual attention to detail in project management, analytical skills, complex problem solving skills, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

--Six (6) years of professional experience in surveying, including two (2)years of supervisory or lead experience.
--Licensed Land Surveyor with the State of Texas.
--Possession of a valid State of Texas license and clear driving record.
--Related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

--Bachelor's Degree in Land Surveying, or a related field. Years of experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
