Job Description

The Room Attendant’s main function is to offer all hotel guests clean and tidy overnight accommodations by performing general cleaning duties as assigned. The Room Attendant serves as a positive team member with the Housekeeping department and other hotel departments.  
1.      Ensures excellent customer service, superb public relations, and makes all guests feel comfortable and welcome at all times. 2.      Obtains room assignments and master keys from Executive Housekeeper at the beginning of and throughout each shift. 3.      Checks rooms thoroughly for articles forgotten by guests and immediately turns over all items to the Executive Housekeeper. 4.      Removes all soiled linens, glasses, coffee cups, and used soap from the bedroom and bathroom. 
5.      Empties ash trays.
6.      Cleans all waste baskets.
7.      Cleans bathroom thoroughly, in accordance with established standards.  Cleaning the bathroom area includes but is not limited to mopping and cleaning toilets, showers, sinks and counters.
8.      Cleans bedroom, including carpet, thoroughly and in accordance with established standards. Cleaning the bedroom area includes, but is not limited to, making beds, dusting, vacuuming carpet, etc.
9.      Ensures all hallways are cleaned thoroughly in accordance with established standards.  
10.  Replenishes supplies for the room.
11.  Stocks Room Attendant cart with the proper supplies at the end of each shift in preparation for the next day.
12.  Reports clean rooms that are ready for occupancy to the Executive Housekeeper.
13.  Cleans a minimum of 18 rooms per 7 ½ hour shift.
14.  Ensures all equipment is in working order and notifies the Maintenance Department for any needed repairs.
15.  Ensures guests’ privacy is upheld at all times.
16.  When performing Crown Care duties, works as a team of two with the Maintenance Helper/Crown Care to deep clean all guest rooms.  Deep cleaning of a guest room consists of shampooing carpets, scrubbing walls and ceilings, disassembling furniture/light fixtures to dust/clean thoroughly, and reassembling furniture/light fixtures. Follows strict sanitation and safety standards

Skills

High school degree or equivalent or working towards obtaining the degree.
 Experience:  1 year previous experience in a janitorial related position is recommended. Prior experience in a customer service atmosphere is preferred. Must be trainable.

 Skills and Abilities: 
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation so as to build effective business relationships and guest loyalty. Must have the ability to communicate in English; must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. 
  •  Must have efficient time management skills and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced office, prioritize demands, pay attention to detail, and promote an organized, efficient environment. 
  •  Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment. 
  •  Must maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Basic mathematical and calculator skills. Legally allowed to work in the United States. 
  •  Physical demands include the ability to see (clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, possess three-dimensional vision, and be able to identify and distinguish colors), sit, talk (ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word), hear (ability to perceive the nature of sounds), stand for long periods of time, walk, handle, feel, reach, bend, stoop, and lift, carry, push or pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. 
  •  Must be able to work overtime if/when needed and as approved by management.
