Job Description

Spherion is seeking a SAFETY MANAGER for a growing manufacturing company in the greater Columbia area with a management team that has a passion for ensuring that each of their employees feels happy and safe every day as they report to work. You will be joining a well-established safety team and program that you will be able to support and grow! THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY!

Essential Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of change on Health & Safety and show evidence of achieving zero incidents.
- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation and ensure that all systems and procedures in place meet legal compliance..
- Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety.
- Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and accident management systems are in place to enable departments to undertake risk assessment processes to identify hazards and ensure that appropriate control measures are in place.
- Liaise with Occupational Health Service staff on health surveillance where a risk assessment has identified a need.
- Provide staff with comprehensive and relevant information and training on Health and Safety systems and procedures, including advising on the purchase of equipment and workplace practices.

Working hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm

Skills:
Requirements:

Experience: A minimum of five years' experience of managing Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment. A proven track record of implementing & maintaining an organisational safety culture and performance.

Associates/Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety or LSP, ASP, or N1OSH Certified

Skills: Strong communicator with good verbal and written skills. Influencing skills within the organisation and with external safety bodies.

Document management skills in ensuring appropriate records are maintained in compliance with legal requirements.

Knowledge: Qualified to degree level in Occupational Safety. Ability to interpret and apply national health and safety legislation and policy.
