Job Description

Spherion is now seeking out experienced candidates for a buyer/planner opening with a local manufacturing facility. Qualified candidates must have an in-depth knowledge of Procurement & Inventory Control (P&IC) techniques and formal MRPII system concepts; proficiency in the use of computerized control systems including closed-loop MRP and ERP applications and JIT, Lean Manufacturing and TQM techniques. Interested applicants should also have experience in procurement contracting and supplier scheduling, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Relevant experience on MRO purchases is a plus. Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Position is full time, receiving 40 hours weekly. Working hours will be from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. Additional hours may be required as necessary. Pay for this position will be depending on experience.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Work with operations, finance, and other areas to prepare budgets, forecasts, and track performance
- Report on safety stock levels, cycle counts, production requirements, etc.
- Develop relationships with internal and external customers by responding to questions and concerns developing and analyzing a variety of reports, and assisting with integrating operations
- Provide analysis and information to demand planning in relation to sales trends and inventory positions
- Ability to influence and interact with multiple levels of management to ensure timelines and expectations are met
- Utilizes inventory planning information to determine best lot quantities to purchase seeking to optimize overall costs, not only unit price but logistics costs involved such as freight and customs fees when applicable
- Releases planned requirements from daily MRP runs based on existing supplier agreements
- Aids Operations in planning for capacity requirements
- Establishes Production priorities

Working hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

- Solid Process Management skills including relevant work in Six Sigma, Lean, Use Case, or other process management methodologies required
- Certification - CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) and/or CPIM (Certified Production and Inventory Management)
- Inventory control process knowledge desirable: SAP, KANBAN, MRP, OFO, etc. Experience in software for statistical forecasting (SPSS or SAS) or software for demand planning
- Experience with SharePoint a plus
- Effective IT/IS background in technologies such as: Server Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL Server, the SQL language, Visual Basic, .NET, Java desirable


4-7 years

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Statistics, or similar degree
Minimum of 2 years experience in business or requirements analysis related profession required
Well-established interpersonal skills, experience collaborating across functional areas
Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite including Visio, Excel, Word & PowerPoint to drive communication to internal & external stakeholders
Independent, and able to handle multiple projects at one time
Prior production planning/inventory management experience in a manufacturing type environment
Experience in procurement contracting and supplier scheduling
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Five (5) years of experience in planning, purchasing, and scheduling in a manufacturing environment
