Job Description

Under direct supervision of the Field Manager, this position performs highly specialized and complex paraprofessional land survey work. Serves as lead worker on a survey crew and instructs crew members on survey techniques.
This is a full time, direct hire position with overtime pay for more than 40 hours worked in a week. You must be able to work various shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Completes survey assignments
Leads the activity of a field survey crew
Effectively applies RCS methodology and enforces project standards
Research deeds and make deed plots in computer aided design software
Reviews blue prints and legal deeds to survey areas in detail
Finds property corners, make calculations or rotates found corners to deed call to find all other property corners
Lays out existing and proposed right-of-way
Keeps detailed and accurate records of crew activities, survey notes, field data, line work files, and sketches of work performed and data secured
Works with project coordinators and contractors in providing survey data for expediting construction projects
Measures completed construction work to determine ???as-built??? quantities for the construction project, which are used in computing the cost of the project
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Performs other duties, as assigned

Working hours: 6:50 AM - 3:20 PM

Knowledge of field survey methods and techniques used in land surveying and mapping
Knowledge of survey instruments used in the measurement and location of lines, elevations, areas, angles, points, and contours of the earth's surface
Establish priorities for workload based upon such factors as need for immediate action, work objectives, work schedule, knowledge of future need, most efficient route to coordinate projects daily, etc
Experienced training employees; directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Operate a personal computer and a variety software applications including computer aided design, word processing, spreadsheets and database software

High School

4-7 years

Five years of experience in technical survey work, including one year of experience leading survey crew activities.
Survey Technician II Certificate as adopted by the NSPS organization for Senior Party Chiefs.
Other combinations of experience and education/training that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
High School diploma, preferred. Years of experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
The successful candidate may be required to drive a company vehicle??? MUST have a valid driver???s license and acceptable driving record.
