Job Description

The Software Validation Engineer will contribute to the software validation process and provide hand-on software validation for products developed for the Automotive Aftermarket. The individual will provide SW validation support to program teams by defining system level validation requirements. This hands-on position will define, develop, and maintain automated SW test environments to improve efficiency, consistency, and schedule predictability. The individual will be responsible for interfacing between the design team and the product team and will ensure that the product meets or exceeds the user and quality requirements.

Designs and executes hardware and software testing during new product development.
Designs and maintains automated software test environments aligned with various automotive test and diagnostic products for new and sustaining products.
Works with design engineers to troubleshoot to root cause when problems are found.
Creates and maintains product Validation, Verification, Alpha and Regression Test documentation.
Works with the engineers to create tests that confirm a product meets its specified requirements and quality.
Updates existing tests per feedback from internal testing, end users, and requirement modifications.
Interacts with engineers to develop tests for modules/components under development.
Tracks and reports product defects and enhancements.
Interface with engineering, production and end users to capture and validate problem descriptions and develop procedures for their duplication.
Documents project/product test requirements.
Must have excellent communication skills; written, verbal, and presentation.
Other duties as assigned and assignments my extend into other areas with similar skill sets.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

1-4 years

Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent 4-year technical degree.
Minimum of two years of experience working in a product development organization.
Experience in engineering of products consisting of electronic, software, and mechanical content, with history of meeting schedule, scope and budgets.
Proficient in one or more of the following: MS VS, C, C++, C# or Java, SQL, Access, LabView.
Proven experience with automated test development including measurement instrument and automation and data collection from those instruments.
Experience testing Human Machine Interfaces or Usability Test Engineering is a plus.
Experience in writing and executing software test cases, measuring coverage, and assessing risk.
1-3 Years experience in SDLC Waterfall and/or Agile
Experience defining test strategy and system test planning
Strong working knowledge of test tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, Remedy is preferred.
Experience in electro-mechanical design is a plus.
