Job Description

Spherion Staffing is recruiting for a Spec Model Maker in Plympton, MA!

This is a temp to perm position for the right candidate - you must be comfortable using a Tape Measure, Calipers, Milling machines, and Drill Presses to be considered.

If you have Tool & Die experience, a higher pay rate will be considered.

1. Must be able to set up and operate all equipment in department
2. Ensure that you are at your workstation at the start of each bell
3. Review all work orders received from supervisor and understand the priorities
4. Ensure that all required materials, tools, carts, bins, etc. have been properly stored at their designated locations
5. Complete work orders on time as per the labor standards
6. Check parts to samples or gauges
7. Store the finished parts as instructed and inform the responsible person to process it
8. Do not keep any extra inventory in your work area. If you have any extra inventory in your work area, notify your supervisor
9. Perform preventative maintenance as instructed. If you notice issues with the machine, inform your supervisor
10. Build jigs/fixtures as needed
11. Complete 5S sheets as required
12. Runs complicated parts
13. Verify you have the correct parts and the latest drawing revision of the part that you are making
14. Check the part against the print and if it meets the print, tag it as "first piece
15. Perform other duties as assigned

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

- Ability to operate various machines within the model department
- Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. and maneuver 50 lbs.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to handle all material lengths
- Ability to detect faulty parts and notify supervisor
- Ability to perform blanking and forming operations on variety of parts
- Ability to read/decipher work orders and blueprints
- Demonstrated ability to perform wide variety of operations on various machinery
- Ability to make minor adjustments to machinery as needed
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to figure out stretch-out and layouts, determine blank sizes
- Must have the ability to fully understand directives/instruction and effectively communicate matters concerning safety, quality and productivity
- Must not have any disciplinary warnings or actions
- Attendance record shall be in a Positive State

High School

1-4 years

- Welding experience - MIG/TIG
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Comfortable with taking/reading measurements and mathematical numbers
