Job Description

Spherion Staffing is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for architectural and structural engineering services as required on pre-stressed/precast projects. Position requires acting as the Project Manager and assisting Preconstruction on projects assigned by the Engineering Manager.


Review and red-line drawings and specifications to determine the appropriate design and materials needed to achieve successful completion of projects. Work closely with other company departments to promote a strong working relationship as well as develop and maintain relationships with external engineers, architects, contractors and vendors. Qualified applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university. Current PE license and Revit experience preferred not required. Candidates should be knowledgeable in ACI 318, AISC 360, PCI Design Handbook, and IBC

Salary $85-100k/year DOE


Responsibilities:

- Review and red-line drawings and specifications to determine the appropriate design and materials needed to achieve successful completion of projects
- Work closely with other company departments to promote a strong working relationship as well as develop and maintain relationships with external engineers, architects, contractors and vendors
- Prepare structural and architectural designs and calculations for various standard and special products/projects
- Provide component and connection designs as required
- Verify all erection drawings and, when necessary, check production piece drawings
- Verify accuracy, and correct as needed, the drawings prepared by Drafter
- Review and verify drawings and designs prepared by outside consultants
- Demonstrate knowledge of the schedule for all project phases and follow-up with customers (internal and external) to make sure needs are met in a timely manner
- Provide timely solutions to manufacturing facility and clients as needed
- Complete continuous education to stay current with Code changes, technology advancements and new products/techniques as they relate to the pre-stressed/precast concrete industry
- Review final client-approved shop drawings and approve for production
- Provide Preconstruction with preliminary design information

Skills:
Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
-Current PE license preferred, not required
-Revit experience preferred, not required
-Knowledgeable in ACI 318, AISC 360, PCI Design Handbook, and IBC
-Experience working in pre-stressed/precast design is a plus
-Ability to prepare structural and architectural designs and calculations for precast/pre-stress products a plus
-Ability to investigate issues and problem solve frequently
-Ability to read and interpret contract and shop drawings
-Ability to interact with clients, contractors, production supervision, engineers, and architects to resolve engineering related issues
