Job Description

Essential Job Duties:
1. Identify and interpret issues of liability and the applicability of potential insurance coverage as it applies to automotive, premises liability, governmental torts, victim/witness actions, medical malpractice and product liability claims.
2. Investigate potential claims using a variety of potential information sources, such as medical record review/EPIC, court records/CCAPS, Forward Health, third-party liability carriers, governmental offices and online searches.
3. Determine whether or not a file would be set up if the client pursued a subrogation interest in a particular case based upon the product line.
4. Place telephone calls to attorneys, insureds, insurance carriers, and other sources to obtain third party liability or case status information.
5. Create subrogation files once research of a claim is complete using the client's subrogation software.
6. Ability to apply knowledge of medical terminology to review claims system for approval or denial of coverage for claims related to accident/illness.
7. Conduct projects and participate in department activities to identify problems and improve process.
8. Responsible for receiving incoming calls from attorneys, insureds, insurance carriers and other potential sources of information related to claims.
9. File documents and file retrieval as required.
10. Organize and distribute incoming mail, including subrogation checks.
11. Meet department standards regarding quantity and quality of work produced.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Working hours: M- F

1.-High school degree with at least one year of office experience in a business setting.
2.-Ability to apply independent judgment to assess liability and coverage issues/potential avenues of recovery.
3.-Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
4.-Proficient PC skills in Windows environment (incl. Word and Excel).
5.-Excellent customer service skills, including ability to aptly describe the subrogation process to insureds, attorneys and insurance carriers.
6.-General understanding of the legal basis for the client's ability to pursue a subrogation interest in a particular case based upon the product line under which the insured has coverage with the client.
7.-Ability to handle a high-volume of work and telephone calls in a pleasant manner.
8.-Effectively work on an independent basis.
9.-Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
1.-Previous customer service and/or health insurance experience.
2.-Familiar with medical terminology, including CPT and ICD-10 coding.
3.-Previous experience in subrogation operations.

Essential Physical Functions:
1.-Job tasks are primarily sedentary in nature.
2.-Ability to perform fine motor skills while using the computer or writing. Computer use may occur for extended periods.
3.-Ability to hear and converse on the phone and in person.
4.-Ability to safely lift and/or carry boxes weighing between 10-20 pounds.
5.-Ability to continuously perform fine motor tasks, such as computer, writing or phone tasks.
6.-Ability to perform occasional tasks that involve crouching, twisting, overhead or climbing stairs.
