Job Description

 

Our client, a company located in Temple, TX, has an exciting career opportunity for a Survey Tech!

What it means to be a Survey Tech:
You will be responsible for providing calculations and computer work associated with surveying the earth's surface.

Ensures all projects are completed according to plan schedules, company policy and production standards.
Keep Project Managers, Office Manager and Supervisors informed on status of all assigned projects and tasks.
Using company standards, researches and obtaining all information needed for the successful completion of the project. Including previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, utility investigations, site inspections and other records to obtain data or evidence needed for survey.
Use company survey software for contouring, setting alignments, setting points for construction staking, defining and managing parcels data, as-built street and pipe profiling.
Coordinates survey plans with client, project manager, civil authorities, and assigned field crews to ensure all survey and client needs are met, and that assigned crew(s) as well as equipment is used efficiently.

The core hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. This is a full time position.

Responsibilities:
- Create and modify CAD drawings for surveying and other special projects, timely.
- Incorporate subdivision plats and drawing files into maps.
- Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating topographical contours and elevations.
- Use plotter and/or scanner to print/copy drawings.
- Create and modify manual drawings for surveying projects.
- May assist in developing survey maps and layouts, when necessary.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and maps per Construction Layout Process.
- Prepare accurate detailed drawings from data supplied by field surveys.
- Operate computer using proprietary standard drafting software packages.
- Compute volume, area, square footage and other related measures.
- Maintain complete, readily accessible files and records of assigned projects and other office reports.
- Ensures all projects are completed according to plan schedules, company policy and production standards.
- Keep Project Managers, Office Manager and Supervisors informed on status of all assigned projects and tasks.
- Greets customers and the general public in person and on telephone, answers questions and directs to appropriate individual when necessary.
- Help organize and maintain project technical files, flat files and field folders.
- Demonstrate sound communication skills. Document phone conversations with clients, public officials and third parties, using standard company memorandums. Use internal memorandums to report project status to supervisors. Represent the firm in a professional manner, with well-composed correspondences.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, general public and outside survey and drafting supply vendors.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
--CAD and manual drafting principles, practices, methods and techniques; basic cartography.
--Work requires a good command of oral and written communication.
--Must have basic knowledge office administrative procedures and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through one plus years related experience.
--Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software.
--Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
--Work requires continual attention to detail in project management, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Education:
Associate

Experience:
1-4 years

Qualifications:
--Three years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
--Associates degree OR completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field.
--Must pass the Certified Survey Tech 1 exam within 12 months of hire.
