Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Writer is responsible for incorporating in-house expertise along with external input and
feedback into CSD policy document reviews and revisions. Additionally, this position is responsible
for developing new training materials and curriculum needed to educate installation contractors on
CSD policies and updates. New trainings may include subject such as: energy audits, assessment,
and other trainings as appropriate to trainer?s skill set. The position will benefit from a strong
background in construction with an in-depth understanding of residential energy efficiency; especially
as it pertains to residential retrofit programs tied to federal and utility funded low income programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

? Technical Writing
o Research current and relevant standards and technical manuals for technical training
development
o Develop curriculum materials to support training efforts, including outlines, lesson plans,
exams, assignments, labs and presentations
o Provide input and assistance in the development of new or revised technical standards,
work-papers, studies and other relevant research projects
? Light to moderate graphics editing in support of Technical Writing
? Program Support
? Maintain documentation of program correspondence and decisions
? Large document management and manipulation
? Creation and conversion of electronic document and data forms
? Convert electronic class information into SCORM format
? Research information and documentation for response to Project Manager and/or client
requests
OTHER FUNCTIONS

themselves
? Participate in cross-functional team projects involving internal resources and industry
stakeholders

Required:
1. Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment and meet stringent
deadlines
2. Strong organizational skills
3. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to read, comprehend, and revise large amounts of technical information
5. Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Word
6. Normal user of other common office software (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe
Acrobat, etc.)
Preferred:
1. Knowledge of energy engineering principles, building science, state and national energy
standards and building codes.
2. 25+ WPM typing speed
3. Electronic form creation and management
4. Familiarity with residential construction industry practices
5. Proficient in Adobe InDesign

Bachelors

Experience:
1-4 years
