Job Description


The Title Examiner is responsible for searching and examining property titles in accordance with the company and local examining procedures to determine the status of title. Our ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and will also possess the ability to shift priorities easily and leverage modern title production procedures and technology.


A general understanding of real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies and familiarity with real estate law.
Read search request to ascertain types of title evidence required and to obtain descriptions of properties and names of the involved parties.
Examine individual titles to determine if liens, restrictions, delinquent taxes will affect titles and limit property use.
Examine mortgage documents, deeds, court cases, taxes and other documents to produce a title commitment.
Prepare initial title commitment documentation based on the application of appropriate codes from the title code book and procedural guidelines.
Proficiency drawing out metes and bounds legal descriptions.
Collaborate and communicate with other examiners, plant manager and closing staff to identity and solve title issues.

Working hours: Mon-Fri 8-5


Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service
Must have excellent verbal, written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Work independently and make appropriate decisions
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, have data entry skills and ability to learn new skills/software; knowledge of RamQuest a plus
Able to handle confidential information
Ability to consistently meet deadlines, demonstrate strong follow through and follow departmental procedures
Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality to work cooperatively and interact professionally with others.
Monitor and prioritize work tasks to ensure high individual productivity level.
Process constructive feedback from other team members and plant manager to advance title knowledge and examination skills.
Aptitude for abstract thinking and creative solutions.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years of title examining experience.
