Job Description

Spherion Staffing is immediately hiring a TRANSPORTATION SAFETY TRAINER AND RECRUITER to work for a waste management company in Gaston, SC. While they are a leader in their industry, they want to ensure that they continue to be a leader among their employees, therefore; they are looking for a recruiter with a great attitude and professional demeanor to come in and represent their company well! This position offers a great opportunity to peruse a dual role within the company! Not only will be the face of the Recruiting team but you will ensure that all employees are working safe as a Safety Trainer!

Recruiting Responsibilities:
Establish staffing and recruiting requirements by reviewing organization plans and meeting with managers to discuss needs..
Attract applicants utilizing established sources and by collaborating with others to expand recruitment sourcing capability.
Plan, organize, staff and attend job fairs.
Assess applicant qualifications by screening applicant documentation, interviewing applicants, analyzing responses, and verifying applicant-provided information comparing qualifications to job requirements. Following applicant assessment, shortlists candidates for next level interviews.
Facilitate additional required screening including but not limited to driver road tests, drug screens, and DOT examinations.
Arranges management interviews with shortlisted candidates.
Provide new hire onboarding to include review of I-9 documents, facilitate proper record keeping of such documents and insure I-9 compliance for new hires.

Safety Trainer Responsibilities:
Conduct New Hire Orientation safety training.
Conduct Smith System and 'behind the wheel" training for new hires employed in driving positions.
May conduct required OSHA safety program training.
Conduct road tests when required.
Insure all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation are properly followed.

Working hours: Monday-Friday

Prior experience with the recruiting and hiring process preferred.
Experience as a commercial driver is desired
Commercial Driver's License desired or willingness to obtain one.
Compliance responsibilities in past roles desired.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
--Commercial Driver's License desired or willingness to obtain one.
Applicant screening and interviewing skills
Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals at all levels in the organization
Sound working knowledge of DOT FMCSA and OSHA regulations and Federal and state employment law
Willlng to travel
Project management skills
Presentation skills
Skilled in use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Able to develop training material
Professionalism and integrity
Results driven

1-2 years Recruiting Experience
Logistics or Transportation Industry Knowledge/Experience
Knowledge of DOT and OSHA Regulations
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
An Articulate and Professional Demeanor
Resourceful problem solving abilities
