The clinic is open Monday - Saturday and expects you to remain flexible and understanding to work one late evening during the week, and a rotating Saturday morning schedule, while being capable of accommodating any emergencies that may arise and keep you working longer at the end of a work day as well.

Primary Responsibilities include:
- Admitting patients to the exam room and accomplish all preliminary work i.e., recording pet weight, temperature, medical history, current complaints
- Assist the veterinarian in the examination room.
- Pet restraining during the examination and treatment.
- Admit and discharge patients on the doctor's orders, being especially careful to ensure that patients being discharged are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state
- Prepare animals for surgery, administering all pre-surgery pain medication, taking and running all pre-anesthetic blood screens
- Assist the doctor in surgery
- Assistants will assist in and Technicians will perform routine laboratory tests to include complete blood counts, differentials, urinalysis, blood glucose, fungal cultures, heartworm (all tests), fecal analysis, parvo tests, feline leukemia/feline aids tests, and blood screens.
- Cytology of ears, skin, and fine needle aspirates may also be required.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

- Must be friendly, self-reliant, and have common sense to handle difficult situations
- Effectively communicate with pet owners, co-workers and the veterinarian
- Ability to show empathy and compassion
- Attention to detail required for reporting
- A desire to learn new skills and techniques
- Must be able to be a part of a team that pulls together and assists in different areas as needed

1-4 years

- MUST be proficient with restraint of animals
- Ability to perform basic data entry and documentation into typical and proprietary computer software programs
- A graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program and has passed a rigid national competency examination, preferred, but not required
