Job Description

Spherion Staffing is looking for a water conservation specialist!

1. Program Development/Implementation: Plans, develops leads, instructs and participates in programs and activities for the Water Resources Department and in-school programming, in compliance with established programming standards. Programs must meet the needs of a variety of demographics and are provided in a variety of climates, indoors and outdoors. Networks and partners with community groups. Develops, implements, promotes and evaluates programs.

2. Facility Management: Adheres to all City of Ocala and Water Resources Department procedures. Maintains effective maintenance procedures and reporting inside and outside the building to ensure the safety of the structure, the grounds, participants and equipment. Sets up equipment, including tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and instructional tools in preparation for activities and scheduled rentals. Maintenance of teaching animals, including: cleaning tanks, feeding, and documentation.

3. Personnel Responsibilities: Assists with training volunteers. Individual must maintain a flexible schedule for program request availability.

4. Record Keeping: Maintains accurate participant counts, registrations, survey data, daily reports, and accident/incident reports.

5. Customer Service: Provides a high level of customer service while interacting with the general public by phone or in person. Communicates clearly and concisely. Services are continuous during daytime, night time, and weekends, as assigned.


Assists with special events for assigned areas and for the department.
Assists in general building maintenance and custodial functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Working hours: Day Shift


Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Journalism, Natural Resources, Communications, Horticulture, Advertising, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Education or closely related field. Minimum of one year of experience in an educational, communication, or recreation related field. Strong knowledge of Microsoft computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and social networking media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as assigned.
