Workforce Development Director   

About the Opportunity:
The Richland Community Development Group (RCDG), an affiliate of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, is seeking a Workforce Development Director. This position has been developed in collaborative partnership with the Richland County Foundation and the Richland County Department of Job & Family Services.   

About the position:
The Workforce Development Director is an entrepreneurial individual who will lead and manage a comprehensive workforce development agenda in the Richland County area to directly solve business workforce needs. The Director will lead a coordinated program to reach out to local businesses to identify and resolve a company’s workforce challenges including recruitment, training, or other human resources challenges. The Director will partner with education and training, staffing and recruiting, public agencies, and others to facilitate solutions.   
Additionally, they will lead and manage the related work outlined in the new three-year strategic plan created jointly by the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce & RCDG. Specifically, that work includes:

Objective: Cultivate a seamless talent pipeline that will fuel business growth.
•     Strategy 1: Develop key local data points to assist and support workforce development goals.
•     Strategy 2: Convene all local workforce development partners to ensure that we are aligning education and training programs with target cluster and high-demand fields.
•     Strategy 3: Create a talent attraction and retention campaign & programming.
•     Strategy 4: Focus on a cradle to career approach to improve educational attainment in our community.   

Qualification

The ideal candidate is a motivated and customer-focused team player who has demonstrated effective leadership for project management. They will be personable, outgoing, and determined; be an open-minded problem solver; and have excellent communication and relationship-building skills. They should be a self-starter with proven ability to meet goals. Candidates should possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, as well as 3-5 years’ experience in economic development, human resources, or a related field. Salary is commensurate with experience.
