- Is aware of all residents? diets and allergies before serving them food. - Complies with food safety regulations, standards, and procedures. - Maintains acceptable standards of preparation, sanitation, and storage of foods. - Works with Director of Nursing to make sure each resident?s dietary needs are being met. - Preps ingredients ahead of time to ensure proper timing of meals. - Prepares meals following recipes accurately and making sure all foods are cooked to the correct temperature. - Checks meals for quality before serving to residents. - If requested, adjusts residents? meals as needed in a timely and consistent manner. - Makes altered meals for those who have special diets. - Wears a clean uniform, consist of an apron, black slacks or khakis, and nonslip closed-toed shoes. - Wears hairnets and gloves at all times when handling food. Makes sure to change gloves when handling different type of food (ex. meats vs. vegetables) - Fingertip nails must be short and free of nail polish. - All accessories (i.e. necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc.) must be put away before entering kitchen area. - Must be free of any heavy fragrance or perfumes. - Must be well-groomed and of good hygiene. - Those with beards must be clean-shaven or wear a beard mask. - Chewing gum is not permitted while on the job. - Cleans work areas (kitchen, dining) and any equipment as needed according to cleaning schedule. - Washing dishes and any equipment as needed. - Sanitizing dining tables before and after each meal is served. - Responsible for safety in kitchen and dining environment.

- Possess a sensitivity and aptitude for working with the elderly.- Prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently. - Possess skills to communicate effectively with residents, staff and other customers. - Possess the ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and documentation. - Be punctual with a good attendance record. - Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills. - Prioritize food safety and nutritional value of residents' meals. - Ability to work effectively independently. - Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
- High school diploma or GED - Must be 18 years of age - Valid driver?s license/ state ID with reliable transportation - Successful clearance of background check - Working knowledge of quality food preparation, public health, sanitation regulations, and safety standards - Basic understanding of modified diets - Food Protection Manager (must be able to get Certificate within 9 months) - Minimum of 1 year experience in food service of a health care facility (preferred) - Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
