Spherion is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Technician for a Bay City, MI location! This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity as Spherion is assisting with the recruiting and screening of qualified candidates! The primary responsibility for this role would include assisting EHS Manager in maintaining and improving regulatory requirements in accordance with MIOSHA (OSHA) and EGLE (EPA). This position will be a mixture of 35% Office and 65% Industrial experience. Ideal candidates should have postsecondary education in EHS, technical, or science related field; Two+ years related experience in industrial or consulting; Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities:

- Maintain permitting status in accordance with air, sewer discharge, & stormwater requirements.
- Track permit requirements and assist in yearly reporting.
- Coordinate and conduct safety and environmental inspections.
- With engineering support, manage air permitting machinery for optimal function.
- Assist/direct in maintenance of applicable Environmental and Safety Machinery.
- Technical ability to make decisions and improvements.
- Assist in training personnel on EHS programs.
- Assist in Incident Investigations.
- Maintain and manage Safety Team.
- Find and implement systematic improvements.
Skills:
- Industrial sampling experience preferred.
- Risk Management Plan experience is a plus.
- Continual Learner.
- Employee Training abilities.
- Technical writing.
- Detail oriented.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in EHS, technical, or science related field. Two+ years related experience in industrial or consulting. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other appropriate protective equipment.
- Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Experience with MIOSHA Standards.
- Experience in (or a combination of) Air Permitting (Scrubbers, Dust Collectors), Sewer Treatment, Stormwater, Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste handling.
- Ability to achieve certification of Stormwater Operator and DOT/RCRA Hazardous Waste Management.
- Chemical experience.
