The Program Specialist is accountable for screening and directing incoming calls, connecting with new leads and referrals, performing prequalification interviews with potential members, Data entry and submission of signed applications for underwriter review, follow up with applicants, and other clerical functions as deemed necessary. The position of Program Specialist requires the employee to secure an extensive knowledge finance organization programs, credit requirements, and pricing standards but the role does not allow for negotiation of final loan terms, issuing decisions on applications, or final determination of loan product for consumers.
Responsibilities:
Principal Activities & Responsibilities
1.Customer Relationship Management
Answer, screen and transfer inbound calls
Calling and/or emailing leads and referrals per established procedures
Perform Program Availability and Prequalification Interviews
Follow up with applicants regarding decisions
2.Processing of Applications
Data entry of applicant information into Loan Operating System
Initial credit bureau review to identify compliance red flags
Processing and/or contacting web applicants
Evaluate factors such as credit worthiness, debt capacity, employment, income, and benefit to customer
Application Packet preparation and submission to underwriting, verifying information is accurate and complete
3.Clerical Duties
Data entry of web applications
Data entry of Lead submissions
Preparing and mailing prequalification failure adverse action letters
4.Customer Service
All inquiries by phone, mail, email or fax are responded to in a professional and timely manner
Analyzing applicant needs and identifying appropriate programs available
Communicating decisions to clients positively
Interact with all applicants and/or vendors politely, and with dignity and respect
5.Communications of Quality Standards
Keep updated with any new policy and procedures
Establish and maintain good working relationships with team members
Establish and maintain effective relationships between internal and external industry counterparts, including but not limited to, customers, regional employees, referral sources, and service providers
6.Process Improvement
Recommend and implement process improvements to any and all activities affected
Awareness of both positive and negative market trends and alert all impacted employees
Use experience and good judgment to help implement procedure improvements
Support and assistance for originators in the office
Working hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively communicate credit decisions
Ability to use sound judgment and great decision-making skills
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Computer skills to include Microsoft Word/Excel/Access/Outlook, Windows Operating System
Self directed and motivated
Ability to successfully multitask
Education:
Associate
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
1-2 years customer service experience preferably in a financial setting.
