Salary $80-120k/year DOE

Responsibilities:
-Prepare insurance company filings on an annual, quarterly, or as required basis for filing with U.S. state and federal regulatory authorities, international regulatory authorities, and various associations. Assist in other regulatory matters with various departments, boards, bureaus, and/or associations
-Draft, negotiate and advise on various commercial contracts
-Assist with the researching, handling, and monitoring of legal issues and projects related
-Monitor, facilitate, and coordinate retention of outside counsel for consulting engagements, litigation and arbitration
-Provide legal research and analysis on topics identified by the Assistant General Counsel or General Counsel. Draft findings and provide well-reasoned and pragmatic legal advice
-Support company efforts for domestic and international compliance related to corporate, information security, and insurance obligations
-Draft, review and update corporate policies and governance documents
-Assist in developing and providing employee training on various policies
-Regularly confer with Assistant General Counsel, General Counsel, and Corporate Paralegal on ongoing matters and work cross-functionally with other departments to support company on regulatory matters, contracts, and other matters as required
-Oversee maintenance of legal files and corporate records
-Other duties as assigned

Experience:
7-10 years

Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree
-Doctorate of Jurisprudence
-Licensed to practice law in Illinois
-At least seven years of experience practicing law (preferably with both law firm and in-house experience)
-Experience practicing law in both law firms and in-house
-Experience with insurance and reinsurance, including policies, practices, trends, and litigation
-Experience or knowledge of the federal crop insurance program
-Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts
-Understanding of insurance or other/similar regulatory and compliance filings across multiple jurisdictions, both domestically and internationally
-Experience in researching and providing analysis to internal clients on changing laws and emerging issues
-Experience in litigation, arbitration, regulatory examinations, and/or overseeing outside counsel on such matters
