The Maintenance Mechanic must consistently adhere to all established safety rules and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all.
Responsibilities:
Provide and maintain the appropriate tools and toolbox necessary to perform all job functions effectively.
Repair and maintain mechanical equipment, including but not limited to extruders, thermoformers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, conveyors, and other production equipment.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all production and facility equipment as directed, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
Adhere to established maintenance practices related to SAP, preventative maintenance documentation, parts usage, and ordering procedures.
Continuously improve the speed and accuracy of product changeovers and maintenance plans to enhance operational efficiency.
Fabricate repair parts using machine shop equipment such as drill presses, welders, and hydraulic presses.
Maintain equipment parts and supplies inventory by regularly checking stock levels, anticipating future needs, and completing purchase requisition forms for necessary parts and materials.
Serve as a relief for any production position, including packer, material handler, and machine operator, as needed to meet business demands.
Work overtime as required by business needs, including attending mandatory monthly training meetings as per OSHA regulations and plant sanitation certifications.
Operate powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts safely and efficiently.
Inspect, maintain, and clean molds, dies, and tooling to ensure their proper function and longevity.
Assist in all facility shutdown and startup procedures, ensuring they are performed correctly and thoroughly.
Working hours: Two shifts available - 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Rotating schedule.
Skills:
Knowledge of the plastics industry, with a focus on extrusion and thermoforming processes and equipment.
Mechanical aptitude training or machining education is highly desirable.
Exposure to and basic knowledge of welding, as well as troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
4-6 years of related work experience, with a strong background in maintenance and repair.
At least 2 years of manufacturing experience, including maintenance and repair of plant machinery and facility upkeep.
Certification or willingness to be trained and certified in forklift, scissor lift, and articulating boom lift operation, as well as hazardous materials handling.
Proven ability to take initiative in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, air compression, hydraulic, electrical systems, and automation issues as they arise.
Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and electrical systems.
Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in automated production line maintenance.
Basic understanding of hydraulic principles, operation, and troubleshooting.
2 years of experience in air compressor theory of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
2 years of experience in refrigeration theory of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
At least 1 year of experience in fabrication and welding.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in troubleshooting electrical systems.
Knowledge of PC and network-based software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
