Responsibilities:
Medical Coding: Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to medical records using the ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
Billing: Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies, government programs, and other third-party payers for reimbursement.
Documentation Review: Review medical documentation, including patient charts, operative reports, and other relevant records to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines.
Compliance: Adhere to all applicable coding and billing regulations, including HIPAA, CPT coding guidelines, and insurance requirements.
Reimbursement Optimization: Stay updated with changes in coding and billing regulations, payer policies, and reimbursement methodologies to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided.
Denial Management: Analyze claim denials and take appropriate actions to resolve billing issues, including appeals and resubmissions.
Audit Support: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during coding and billing audits.
Communication: Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related queries.
Data Analysis: Analyze coding and billing data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in coding accuracy and revenue cycle management.
Training and Education: Stay updated with industry changes and attend relevant training sessions to enhance coding and billing knowledge and skills.

Experience:

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in medical coding (e.g., Certified Professional Coder - CPC) preferred.
Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
Proficient in using coding manuals, such as ICD-10 and CPT, and coding software.
Knowledge of insurance guidelines and reimbursement methodologies, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
