In partnership with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services, we are looking for an Outreach Coordinator. As an Outreach Coordinator, you will work in the Mental Health Services Section within the Bureau of Prevention Treatment and Recovery in the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS).
The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for establishing coordination between the Wisconsin 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988) and community partners. To accomplish this, you will organize activities that create awareness of 988 and promote 988 with high-risk and hard-to-reach populations. Your role will be unique as you will serve as a liaison between systems to help ensure that service users are getting connected to the appropriate level of care and intervention needed. The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the DCTS Crisis Team, the contracted agency providing 988 services, and community partners. DCTS external partner engagement will be coordinated with the DCTS Crisis Team.
To be successful in this role, advanced oral and written communication skills are required as you will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the project lead and plan, direct, and coordinate activities designed to create awareness of 988
- Create and distribute 988 information and materials to community partners
- Identify the need for adapted and translated 988 materials and work with the 988 team to provide adaptations
- Schedule and execute 988 presentations and informational events in communities with a focus on higher-risk and hard-to-reach populations/geographic areas
- Attend already established events at which 988 information can be shared and materials can be dispersed
- Coordinate outreach and messaging efforts with the entire 988 team and 988 contracted providers to ensure efforts are in alignment and not duplicated
- Collaborate with the project team to identify high-risk and hard-to-reach populations and groups to focus outreach efforts
- Maintain and establish relationships with collaborative partners
- Promote county, tribal, and provider awareness of implementation
- Research how other states are messaging and promoting 988 for high-risk populations
- Participate in workgroups, committees, etc. for other current crisis initiatives to gather and share information and foster alignment between the 988 project and other initiatives
- Travel across the state to provide presentations and educational materials
- Promote the communication and teamwork of the Bureau
- Function as an active team member, working together with other staff to plan, organize, and carry out assignments
- Maintain successful day-to-day relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Work with the supervisor to ensure activities are coordinated, keep the supervisor apprised of events, meetings, and activities, and receive permission as appropriate for these activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience with system-level work and/or experience with Wisconsin’s crisis intervention services are preferred
- Extensive professional knowledge of applicable grant coordination and implementation
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and program development
- Working knowledge of the current mental health delivery system in Wisconsin
- Extensive skill in staffing meetings composed of internal and external professional staff
- Skill in analyzing and presenting reports and evaluation materials to diverse groups with diverse interests
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for grant reporting, writing, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels
