Spherion has a temp to hire, full time Patient Account Representative position available for a local medical financial company in Lafayette, LA. Medical collections or billing/payment experience is a must.
Schedule: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm

Patient Account Representative responsibilities and duties:
- Manages queue of patient accounts to be worked following company policies and procedures. Able to reach and exceed daily/monthly goal.
- Knows and complies with all state laws governing the collection of accounts.
- Contacts patients regarding a hospital or clinic bill to collect a payment or to make payment arrangements.
- Payments are made by representative on behalf of patient using client's payment portals. Provides payment portal information to those patients that wish to make a payment online at a later date.
- Prints and mails or emails patient itemized statements or payment receipts per patient request.
- Enters collection notes in company and client systems based on clients' preferences.
- Send/receive and responds to emails in a timely manner.
- Answers account related questions from coworkers, supervisor, client, and patients.
- Payment conflict resolution.
- Must maintain a professional tone on the phone and in all written/electronic correspondence.
- Works independently and efficiently, able to prioritize daily responsibilities.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Continued education preferred such as, certification, associate's, bachelor's degree, etc.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required
- 3+ years of Advanced level of customer service
- 1-2 years medical collections experience and/or
- 1-2 years Medical Biller or Medical Payment Specialist
- Proficiency with database software and MS Office Suite
- Ability to overcome obstacles and get results
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
