Spherion is working with a Personal Injury Law firm in Newark. This is a Personal Injury Legal Assistant that may be a temp - perm or direct hire for the right candidate.
Life Insurance/ Short Term Disability
Weekly pay with direct deposit option
1 hour lunch
Provide administrative support to the lawyer to enhance law office effectiveness
Communicating with clients, law offices, insurance adjusters, medical offices, and experts
Assist in preparing for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
Prepare and file complaints, motions, briefs, and arbitration statements; prepare special packages, discovery demands, and answers to interrogatories. Review the discovery provided and summarize deposition testimony
Compose e-mails and correspondence
Monitor deadlines and be proficient in maintaining the law office calendar
Prepare disbursement of settlement funds and request checks from the accounting department
Answer inquiries from potential new clients
Working hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Fluency in the English and Spanish languages, both verbally and in writing, a plus
No Degree Required
3-5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary working with Personal Injury legal matters in a law firm required
Familiarity with New Jersey e-courts and NJ court rules and legal procedures required
Computer literacy with proficiency in M.S. Office and Dropbox
Satisfactory knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a law office
Excellent secretarial and organizational skills
Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced office setting
