The Universal Banker engages in meaningful conversations and provides superior service to all current and prospective members of Summit Credit Union by offering a full range of products and services such as opening deposit and savings accounts, discussing loan products, and assisting members via the teller line, personal teller machine (PTM), member service desk, or contact center. The incumbent will strive to make decisions that best serve members and improve their financial situation while balancing the needs of the credit union.

Essential Functions:
- Act as the face of the organization and the first point of contact for members.
- Build and maintain a positive rapport with members, and actively solicit their needs and suggestions.
- Assist members in utilizing the Personal Teller Machine (PTM).
- Conduct teller transactions, fulfill the needs of members accurately, and balance each day.
- Resolve account errors and provide maintenance on accounts for members. Help other employees with problem resolution. Assist members in identifying potential problems and present solutions along with associated advantages and drawbacks.
- Provide assistance to member needs including opening and closing accounts, along with completing member requests not available through the PTM. Set up or update payroll changes and deductions, and order checks when appropriate.
- Educate members about convenience service options such as online banking, mobile banking, and ATM access.
- Actively participate in member inbound and outbound calling activities.
- Serve members via non-branch channels (contact center, mobile message, video, or chat) as needed.
- Utilize networking skills when developing and expanding member relationships.
- Execute the vision and mission of Summit Credit Union at the branch level.
- Serve as an expert resource for products and services offered by Summit Credit Union.
- Take responsibility for lobby traffic and communicate member coverage needs to the team. Coordinate scheduling when necessary.
- Demonstrate effective team skills through involvement in departmental projects, meetings, or business goals.
- Provide feedback and influence efficiencies by troubleshooting, recommending, and implementing improvements in workflow.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, critical thinking, learning, and fun.
- Meet or exceed specified goals.
- Assist in collaborating and advising members on finding the right solutions for their borrowing needs.
- Provide education and consultation to members for their borrowing needs.
- Perform credit bureau reviews for members.
- Basic knowledge of all lending products.
- Calculate lending ratios accurately.
- Ensure all lending paperwork is accurately collected and processed.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities through member interactions.
- Make appropriate referrals based on member needs.
- Maximize partner relationships (personal, mortgage, and business lenders as well as financial advisors) to deepen member relationships.
- Educates members on other products such as Payment Protection and Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP).
- Provide support to the branch.
- Authorize check holds up to the assigned limit and utilize senior team members to authorize higher-level cash access decisions as necessary. Assist co-workers with check-hold decisions.
- Assist in other areas to develop an understanding of various membership services, practices, and procedures.
- Understand and is accountable for executing all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP).
- Assist with other projects and functions as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Ability to obtain a Nationwide Mortgage Licencing System (NMLS) number.
- Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills are essential for projecting a positive image of the Credit Union.
- Excellent judgment to solve day-to-day unique and in-depth problems but usually within established guidelines.
- 2 years of sales or customer service experience is required with 1 year of financial experience preferred. Will consider higher education in finance/sales/marketing in lieu of experience.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic mathematical skills are required, including the ability to perform interest, pay-off, dividend, and certificate penalty calculations.
- Working knowledge of basic deposit accounts and standard branch operational
- (opening and closing) procedures.
- Ability to accept loan applications and payments as well as perform routine maintenance on basic consumer loans.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers throughout the day.
- Ability to occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 lbs.
