U.S. Staffing Leader Named to Entrepreneur’s List of 50 Franchise Companies Doing the Most to Champion Diversity

ATLANTA – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today that it has been named to Entrepreneur magazine’s list of 50 Franchise Companies Doing the Most to Champion Diversity.

“We’re incredibly honored to be included on such an esteemed list,” said Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, president of Spherion. “As an organization and an industry, there will always be more work to do when it comes to Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). EDI matters. It matters in everything that we do here at Spherion. We believe every person brings something unique to the table. We understand that our unique upbringings, challenges, perspectives, religions and cultures fuel new ideas and make our organization what it is. And we’re proud to be named among other leading franchise brands for our dedication to championing diversity through programs like our franchisee discount and our targeted outreach efforts.”

The franchise brands recognized as Entrepreneur’s first-ever Top Franchises for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion were chosen based on information submitted by each company as well as the Entrepreneur team’s own independent research. Spherion was selected for a multitude of reasons, including the 25% discount it has offered off its franchise fee since 2013 for U.S. Small Business Administrative-recognized disadvantaged or minority groups. Additionally, 70% of the new entrepreneurs Spherion has added during the past year are people of color.

“Building a diverse community of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives is one of the many ways we’re focusing on a stronger, more diverse Spherion,” Tijerino continued.

Besides its franchisee-focused EDI efforts, Spherion has an EDI council composed of local employees, franchisees and corporate team members to discuss and implement more inclusive workplace practices.

“Entrepreneur’s first-ever selection of brands to our new Top Franchises for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion list highlights the extraordinary efforts the franchising industry has made to diversify its ranks,” said Entrepreneur Senior Vice President of Franchising Liane Caruso. “The companies recognized by our editorial team underscore some of the ways that several franchise brands have focused on championing the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion and are providing meaningful and accessible opportunities for everyone to live their dream of being an entrepreneur.”

Spherion brandishes the “power of local” through a network of independent and empowered franchisees. Each Spherion franchisee enriches their communities by connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—and when they’re successful together, their investments flow back into the neighborhoods where they live and work. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
