- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner. Prepare and send invoices to donors, grantors, and other stakeholders. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments as needed. Manage vendor relationships and facilitate timely payments.- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions regularly to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or errors in a timely manner.- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in the general ledger. Record income, expenses, assets, and liabilities accurately and categorize transactions according to appropriate accounts.- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial analyses, on a regular basis. Provide accurate and timely financial information to management and stakeholders as needed for decision-making and reporting requirements.- Budget Management: Assist in the development and monitoring of organizational budgets. Track budget-to-actual variances and provide regular reports to management. Collaborate with program managers and staff to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines and financial goals.- Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and nonprofit financial reporting requirements. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting nonprofit organizations and implement necessary adjustments.- Audit Support: Assist with annual financial audits or reviews by providing necessary documentation, supporting schedules, and explanations to auditors. Implement audit recommendations and improvements to internal controls as needed.
1-4 years
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.- Previous experience in nonprofit bookkeeping or accounting preferred.- Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or similar financial management systems.- Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.- Commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit organization.
