Despite a historically-low unemployment rate and the beginning effects of a labor shortage, the Spherion® Emerging Workforce® Study shows that many workers say their employers are not taking the necessary steps to retain them. In addition, less than half (43%) of the U.S. workforce say they are satisfied with their current jobs.

Healthcare benefits (78%) and compensation (75%) are viewed as the most crucial to retaining employees, according to surveyed workers.

65% of workers said time and flexibility is extremely/very important to them, but only 37% say they are satisfied with their time and flexibility.

13% of workers say their company is putting more effort into retaining them now – even with the current candidate shortage.
