1946
City Car Unloaders is founded in Chicago by Leroy Dettman.
1956
City Car Unloaders changes its name to Labor Pool.
1966
Labor Pool enters the healthcare market and Medical Personnel Pool is formed.
1975
The industrial and clerical divisions of Medical Personnel Pool are renamed Personnel Pool of America (PPA)
1978
PPA becomes a subsidiary of H&R Block, Inc.
1991
H&R Block acquires Interim Services Corporation and merges it with PPA.
1992
The newly merged organization is renamed to Interim Services, Inc.
1994
Interim Systems, Inc. is spun off by H&R Block and becomes publicly traded on the NASDAQ.
1997
Interim HealthCare is sold to Cornerstone Equity Investors and Bank of America Capital and becomes privately held.
1999
Norrell Corporation is acquired by Interim Services, Inc.
2000
Interim Services, Inc. changes its name to Spherion Corporation.
2016
Spherion celebrates 70 years of staffing and recruiting excellence.
2020
Spherion formally adds a specialized Professional staffing and recruiting offering.
2021
Spherion celebrates its 75-year anniversary and launches its refreshed brand identity.
