Spherion Vermont is seeking a Lapping Technician is responsible for insertion, precision lapping, related finishing operations, and pressure testing on mechanical seal components to meet defined flatness, surface finish, and dimensional requirements. This role is responsible for interpreting Manufacturing Work Orders (MOs), Technical Drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to perform lapping, shrink fitting, pressure testing, and supporting operations.

Responsibilities:
-Review and interpret Manufacturing Work Orders (MOs), Technical Drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
-Insert seal faces via shrink fitting using induction heating equipment.
-Set up, operate, and maintain lapping machines to achieve required seal face flatness, figure, and surface finish tolerances.
-Verify seal face figure and flatness using an optical flat or interferometer.
-Clean and polish parts to meet cosmetic requirements using speed lathes.
-Execute pressure testing on all inserted seal faces and bellows assemblies, and rework inserted parts when necessary.
-Work in collaboration with the Welding team to rework leaking bellows assemblies.
-Set bellows free length and measure parts to verify dimensional conformance to technical drawings.
-Document inspection results accurately and escalate nonconformances when necessary.
-Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe, and organized work area by following all safety procedures and using required PPE.
-Communicate effectively with team members to support optimal production flow.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Core Competencies: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Technical & Analytical: Computer/data entry proficiency along with strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
Communication: Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain professional standards of conduct.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs (with assistance encouraged for items over 25 lbs), bend, twist, and climb ladders up to 8 feet as needed.

Qualifications:
Prior experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
Familiarity with machinery such as lapping machines, speed lathes, and induction heaters.
Experience reading technical blueprints, Manufacturing Work Orders, or Bills of Materials (BOMs).
