Spherion is seeking a dedicated and skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our team in Avilla, IN for an immediate, temp-to-hire opportunity. Operating on a consistent first-shift schedule, this role offers a competitive starting wage of $21 to $24 an hour. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-conscious, and ready to contribute to custom projects right away. Responsibilities:
Fabrication: Align, fit, and weld metal parts to form complete units or sub-units based on specific technical drawings.
Equipment Operation: Safely use a variety of tools, including welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, hand power tools, forklifts, and hoists.
Material Prep: Assist with sawing, shearing, braking, and grinding as needed to prepare materials for assembly.
Quality & Safety: Maintain high standards of accuracy (critical for custom projects) and strictly adhere to all workplace safety protocols.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Skills:
While core welding experience is mandatory, candidates who bring prior experience operating heavy shop machinery, such as shears, press brakes, industrial saws, and forklifts, are highly preferred. A strong background in custom fabrication environments and a proven track record of adapting quickly to new, detailed project requirements will help you thrive and succeed in this position

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of professional welding experience, paired with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to accurately read and execute complex fabrication drawings. This is a highly active role; you must be able to stand, bend, and climb for the majority of your shift, and safely lift or move materials weighing over 50 lbs. To be considered for this role there will be an on-site weld test (maximum of 25 minutes to complete).
