Spherion VT is seeking detail-oriented Specialty Cable Manufacturing Technician to join our client's production team in Shelburne, Vermont. There are a variety of open positions available. You have the opportunity to operate specialized high-temperature extrusion machinery to apply PTFE/TFE fluoropolymer insulations and produce high-frequency Low Loss (LL) cables for critical aerospace and defense applications. Additionally, you may run high-voltage spark testing equipment to verify insulation integrity and ensure every reel of cable meets strict quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities:
- Operate High-Temp Extrusion Equipment: Set up, monitor, and adjust specialized extrusion lines applying TFE/PTFE and expanded fluoropolymer coatings to wire conductors.
- Process Low-Loss Cable: Produce high-frequency, low-attenuation cables, maintaining precise control over wall thickness, concentricity, and microscopic expanded-air inner layers.
- Conduct Spark Testing & QA: Run finished cable through high-voltage spark test units to detect insulation flaws, logging defect locations and stopping lines when quality limits are exceeded.
- Perform In-Process Quality Checks: Read blueprints and shop floor traveler documentation to verify wire gauges, outer diameters, and electrical properties using micrometers and calipers.
- Maintain Equipment & Safety Protocols: Perform routine operator-level machine cleanup, spool changes, and tool setups while strictly adhering to plant safety and ESD (electrostatic discharge) standards.
Working hours: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Various Shifts Available)
Skills:
- Prior experience in wire and cable manufacturing, specifically with fluoropolymer (TFE/PTFE, FEP, PFA) extrusion techniques.
- Familiarity with high-voltage inline spark testing procedures and quality control standards (e.g., MIL-SPEC or AS9100).
- Experience handling high-frequency coaxial or Low-Loss aerospace cable products.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training.
- Minimum 1???2 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use basic hand tools and precision measuring devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Basic computer literacy and math skills for entering quality test data, reading specs, and tracking job travelers.
- Excellent visual acuity, color vision (for wire color coding), and hand-eye coordination for handling fine wires and spools.
