Now hiring a Ceramic Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a world-leading manufacturing company located in Conway, SC. The Engineer will drive the development, testing, and optimization of advanced ceramic materials and improve the performance of refractory components used in proprietary melt/casting processes. What You'll Do:
- Drive Innovation: Improve the performance of refractory components used in the melt and casting processes by identifying fundamental drivers of quality.
- Optimize Processes: Assess process variability, eliminate sources of special cause variation, and utilize statistical methods to lead optimization trials.
- Collaborate: Partner with production engineers and operations personnel to troubleshoot daily issues and seamlessly implement new process conditions.

Responsibilities:
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the safety of self and others by diligently adhering to safe work practices and procedures.
- Data Analysis: Analyze process and performance data to assess factors that impact product quality and process efficiencies.
- Process Engineering: Research and propose changes to existing processes and procedures to drive major improvements in productivity and quality.
- Technology Application: Identify and demonstrate alternate applications of new technologies to high-impact products and processes.
- Production Support: Assist production engineers in troubleshooting day-to-day production problems and maintaining open communication for continuous improvement.
Working hours: 6:45 AM - 7:00 PM
Skills:
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with high-quality steel manufacturing and the use of ceramic components in steel casting processes (metals manufacturing experience is a major plus).
- Material Expertise: Knowledge of the mechanical and thermal properties of ceramic components as they relate to structural integrity, chemical resistance, and wear characteristics.
- Analytical Tools: Working knowledge of fluid flow analysis techniques and fundamental knowledge of analytical tools for mechanical and thermal stress analysis.
- Soft Skills: Self-motivated, goal-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and extend knowledge in ceramics to identify new opportunities.

- Education: BS degree in an engineering discipline.
- Experience: 5 or more years of commercial production experience using ceramic components.
