Responsibilities:
Manage the flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent by adjusting gates, valves, and mechanical systems.
Start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to regulate the movement of raw sewage through various stages, including settling, aeration, and digestion.
Collect and analyze samples at various treatment stages, performing routine bacteriological tests to verify the effectiveness of treatment procedures.
Inspect and fine-tune specialized equipment such as belt presses, chlorinators, digesters, and conveyor systems to ensure peak performance.
Monitor and interpret telemetry gauges, meters, and control panels; accurately document all readings and treatment data to ensure regulatory compliance.
Assist with operational reports and provide timely notifications to the Chief Plant Operator regarding equipment malfunctions or required repairs.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment across all buildings, equipment, and plant grounds.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Skills:
Ability to interpret complex diagnostic data and make immediate operating changes to maintain compliance with State, County, and environmental regulations.
Capability to supervise and mentor entry-level or technical staff on industry practices and safety standards.
Preference will be given to candidates with college-level coursework in Chemistry, Biology, Hydraulics, or Mathematics

Qualifications:
Must hold a valid State of Florida Class ???C??? Wastewater Operator???s License and a valid Florida Driver???s License (Class B preferred).
5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment operations is highly preferred. Must be proficient in operating large trucks and construction equipment.
High School Diploma or GED required.
