As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be essential in the safe and efficient movement, loading, unloading, and positioning of very large, heavy components, tubular goods, and machinery parts. This role is vital for maintaining the flow of production and material inventory for the construction of specialized oilfield tools, drilling rigs, and complex machinery. Responsibilities:
Safely operate and maintain various heavy equipment, primarily large industrial forklifts (LPG/Diesel) and overhead bridge cranes (Pendant and Cab-operated), to move materials within the facility and yard.
Load and unload trucks and rail cars with incoming materials (e.g., steel beams, large castings, pipes) and finished products, ensuring proper staging, labeling, and storage to maintain accurate inventory.
Accurately position large and irregularly shaped workpieces for machining, fabrication, or assembly operations, often requiring coordination with machinists and riggers.
Perform daily pre-operation (pre-shift) safety checks and maintenance routines on assigned equipment (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, brake function), immediately reporting any necessary repairs or safety concerns.
Strictly adhere to all facility safety protocols, including load capacity limits, proper rigging techniques, traffic control rules, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Complete daily equipment logs, material transfer forms, and any required inventory documentation accurately and on time.
Assist in organizing the outdoor storage yard, ensuring materials are secure, accessible, and stored in accordance with environmental regulations and company policy.
Working hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Skills:
Experience operating Cab-operated overhead cranes, yard goats/tractors, or specialized material handlers (e.g., telehandlers).
Familiarity with basic inventory control processes and using handheld scanners or computer terminals for material tracking.
Previous experience working in a heavy steel fabrication, pipe yard, or oil and gas equipment manufacturing environment.
Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues and performing preventative maintenance.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of verifiable, hands-on experience operating heavy mobile industrial equipment, including forklifts with a capacity of 15,000 lbs or greater.
Current, or ability to obtain immediately, certification/licensing for operating large capacity industrial forklifts and overhead cranes.
Strong understanding of safe and proper rigging and signaling techniques for moving complex and heavy loads.
Demonstrated commitment to working safely in a busy industrial manufacturing or fabrication setting.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks necessary to operate equipment and handle rigging.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with team members regarding movement and staging needs.
