Responsible The In-Process Sheet Metal Inspector is responsible for performing first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of sheet metal components to ensure they meet engineering and customer specifications. This position plays a key role in supporting production efficiency within the Press Brake Department by providing timely, on-floor inspection support to reduce machine downtime and maintain quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Verify part dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and surface plates.
Interpret and inspect parts per blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.
Collaborate closely with Press Brake operators, production leads, and the Quality team to ensure timely inspection and part approval to keep machines running efficiently.
Document inspection results and communicate nonconformances clearly to production and quality teams.
Assist in maintaining and improving inspection processes for consistency and accuracy.
Support the Quality department with first article reports, material verification, and visual inspection as required.
Utilize ERP/MRP systems to record inspection data and part traceability

Skills:
Epicor experience preferred
1-2+years of Press Brake operations or forming processes preferred
4+years of related experience
Education:
High School
Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
3?7 years of experience in sheet metal inspection or a related manufacturing quality role.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, including forming, bending, and finishing.
Experience with manual inspection equipment and understanding of material properties (tolerances, finishes, grain direction).
Familiarity with Press Brake operations or forming processes ? brake experience is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings accurately.
Communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with operators and supervisors on the production floor.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Experience with Epicor or similar ERP/MRP systems preferred.
