      Operate an assigned set of knitting machines and inspect sock quality to produce a product that meets or exceeds customer specifications.Responsibilities:Run knitting machines on different lines to meet production demands on a daily basis.Communicate with the Mechanic regarding flaws in the knitting process and any other conditions pertaining to the knitting machines that could cause off-quality products. Must be able to repair yarn breaks and start up mechanical stops as required. Read and follow work orders and manufacturing specifications accurately.At the beginning of the shift, collect correct materials, per work orders, push the cart to assigned knitting line and place supplies behind knitting machines. Empty carts weigh from twenty-five to thirty pounds. Filled carts weigh from fifty to one hundred pounds. Obtaining yarns should be done at the start and middle of the shift and when a style or color change occurs. Grasp cone(s) of yarn/nylon weighing up to five pounds and place on spindle of yarn rack located behind knitting machine. Spindle heights range from thirty-eight to seventy inches from the floor. Thread the knitting machines by properly threading yarn/nylon through small eyelets as necessary. Requires reaching above shoulder level. Bend over and grasp socks that have accumulated in the knitting machine When cycling, thoroughly inspect the last sock knit at each machine. Inspect additional socks if a defect is observed. With one hand, pull one sock its full length over other hand and arm, twist arm and spread fingers apart to get a close look at the quality of the knitting. Pull sock off arm inside out and repeat process, inspecting the inside of the sock. Pull the sock off right side out. Every sixth sock knit by each assigned machine is to be inspected in this manner. During an eight hour shift, an average of four hundred (400) socks would be inspected in this manner.
