Spherion has an immediate opening for a temp to hire Jar Technician in Broussard, LA for an oil & gas related company. The ideal candidate would be able to disassemble, reassemble and repair fishing and drilling jars.
Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
Occasional On-Call over weekends, rotation. OT available

Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repair: Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble fishing and drilling jars used in downhole tools.
- Inspection: Perform visual and dimensional inspections of tool components (mandrels, seals, and housings) to check for wear, corrosion, or fatigue.
- Testing: Operate hydraulic test benches to "pull" or "fire" the jars, ensuring they trip at the correct weight and reset properly according to manufacturer specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed service records, including serial numbers, part replacements, and pressure test charts for every tool serviced.
- Quality Control: Ensure all tools meet API (American Petroleum Institute) standards and specific company safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Track spare parts (O-rings, seals, oil) and notify management when stock is low.
- Safety: Adhering to strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures, including working with complex machinery.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of a vocational industrial program preferred.
Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years or more of jar tech experience
- Mechanical Aptitude: High proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and torque machines.
- Precision Measurement: Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges to measure tolerances down to the thousandth of an inch.
- Hydraulics Knowledge: Understanding of high-pressure fluid systems and seal integrity.
