The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing all analytical and quality control testing at a orange juice processing facility. This role ensures accurate and timely laboratory analysis in support of food safety, regulatory compliance, sanitation, and finished product release. The Laboratory Technician collaborates closely with QC Technicians and reports results to the QA Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
Analytical Testing
Conduct microbiological sampling and coordinate external laboratory submissions.
Perform water quality testing as required.
Support environmental monitoring sample preparation (if applicable).
Conduct finished product testing prior to release.
Maintain the retained sample program according to procedures.
Documentation & Records
Record all test results accurately in electronic and/or paper systems.
Monitors all Critical Control Points (CCPs), including pasteurization parameters.
Verify time/temperature records and escalate deviations immediately.
Maintain compliance with FDA recordkeeping standards.
Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COA) for QA Supervisor review.
Maintain sample traceability logs.
Equipment & Calibration
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (refractometer, pH meter, incubators, etc.).
Perform routine calibration verification checks.
Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
Maintain laboratory reagent and supply inventory.
Compliance & Escalation
Immediately notify QA Supervisor of out-of-specification (OOS) results.
Support investigation of quality deviations.
Follow HACCP and Preventive Control monitoring procedures.
Participate in audit preparation and mock recall exercises as needed.
GMP & Safety
Follow all GMP and hygiene standards.
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization.
Comply with OSHA and chemical safety procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Associate
Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
--Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
--1-3 years laboratory experience in food or beverage manufacturing preferred.
--Knowledge of basic microbiological and analytical testing methods.
--HACCP knowledge preferred.
