We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Set-Up Machine Operator to join a manufacturing team in Mountainside, NJ. This role is responsible for setting up hydraulic and mechanical press machines prior to production, ensuring proper alignment, accurate measurements, and correct tooling selection. Training will be provided, but this quickly becomes an independent role requiring initiative, accuracy, and strong problem-solving skills.

You will work closely with the Plant Manager and Heavy Press Manager to ensure all machines are correctly prepared for safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Alignment
Physically set up and prepare the press machine for operation.
Ensure all components, tooling, dies, and measurements are properly aligned before production begins.
Measure the punch using a tape measure to confirm both width and length dimensions.
Identify and install the proper support ring needed to stabilize the punch as it fits into the die.
Select required tooling by referencing the tool room?s indexing system or consulting a manager.
Tooling & Work Order Management
Review work orders upon receipt and gather the correct tooling and components for each job.
Retrieve dies, punches, and support rings from the correct aisle using the designated indexing system.
Maintain accuracy and attention to detail when preparing all machine components.
Machine Adjustments
Manually adjust the height of the press using wrenches or other required tools.
Move gauges and components to ensure accurate punch height and correct machine positioning.
Work with both hydraulic and mechanical presses as needed.
Quality & Production Support
Run the first-piece sample and submit it to the inspector for approval prior to full production.
Ensure all setups comply with company safety and operational standards.
Work independently after training, while communicating proactively with the management team when questions arise.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Qualifications:
Prior machine operating or mechanical experience preferred (manufacturing/metal work a plus).
Ability to read a tape measure accurately and consistently.
Comfortable working with hand tools, wrenches, gauges, and machine components.
Strong attention to detail, especially with measurements and alignment.
Ability to work independently after training and follow written work orders.
Reliable, punctual, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
