Spherion is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing facility team in Leominster, MA. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of manufacturing equipment within the facility. Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment breakdowns across production machinery
Replace and install machine components such as belts, bearings, fuses, and electrical parts
Perform preventive maintenance including lubrication, adjustments, and equipment inspections
Follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and plant safety standards
Use hand tools and power tools to complete repairs and maintenance tasks
Perform welding repair and basic fabrication of replacement parts as needed
Operate forklift or motorized equipment to move parts, tools, and materials safely
Read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and apply proper PPE when handling chemicals or oils
Support equipment setup, repairs, and mechanical improvements to reduce downtime
Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all company safety policies

Skills:
Experience in wire and cable manufacturing or similar industrial environment
Basic machining experience (lathe or milling machine operation)
Prior maintenance mechanic experience in a high-volume production facility
Vocational training or technical certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance
Experience working with complex production machinery and automated equipment
Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems or CMMS tools
Exposure to multi-craft maintenance (mechanical, electrical, and welding combined work)
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or factory environment
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment
Experience with replacing machine components (belts, bearings, fuses, electrical parts, wear items)
Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedures
Hands-on experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
Ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks (lubrication, adjustments, inspections)
Welding repair skills and basic fabrication ability
Ability to operate a forklift or motorized equipment safely
Ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and use proper PPE
Physical ability to lift 10???40 lbs and work at heights or in varied positions
