Preparation & Staging:Clean, wash, and prepare surfaces (e.g., metal, plastic, wood) by sanding, masking, taping, and wiping with solvents to ensure proper paint adhesion.Set up and organize parts on racks, hooks, or conveyors for the painting process.Verify parts are free of grease, dust, or contaminants before coating application.Coating Application:Operate and maintain specialized painting equipment, including conventional and airless spray guns, powder coat systems, or robotic painting arms.Apply paint, primer, lacquer, enamel, and other protective or decorative coatings according to job specifications, thickness requirements, and company standards.Regulate pressure and flow of paint and air to ensure consistent, even coverage and avoid runs, sags, or defects.Mix and thin paint materials to achieve the correct color, viscosity, and application consistency.Quality Control & Inspection:Visually inspect finished components for defects, poor coverage, runs, or blemishes, and perform touch-ups or rework as necessary.Measure film thickness (DFT) using gauges or calipers to ensure specifications are met.Maintain consistency in paint quality, color, and texture across all production batches.Maintenance & Safety:Clean and maintain painting booths, spray guns, hoses, and surrounding work areas to prevent cross-contamination.Properly store, handle, and dispose of paint materials, chemicals, and hazardous waste in accordance with safety guidelines.Adhere strictly to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, including respirators, goggles, and protective suits.Troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions or process issues to the supervisor.
