Spherion is recruiting for a Power Analyst to manage the flow of technical and financial information at our utilities client in Vermont. Under the direction of the Manager of Power Resources, you will have the opportunity at performing complex electric power simulations, managing ISO-New England market participation, and conducting economic risk analyses. The Analyst serves as a vital link between power planning, regulatory compliance, and accounting to support our client's member and non-member utilities.

Responsibilities:
- Manages load and generating resources within ISO-NE markets, including energy, capacity, and reserve bidding, while implementing load/generation scheduling and confirmations.
- Implements and monitors trading and hedging strategies for energy products and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to manage our client's market exposure.
- Prepares power budgets, rate case documents, and mandatory regulatory filings; represents our client in legislative forums and Technical Advisor Groups.
- Performs economic and risk analyses on generation projects and portfolios, and develops resource optimization tools to maximize efficiency.
- Verifies power supply expenses, reconciles monthly transactions with entities like VELCO, and produces accurate billing information for the Accounting Department.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Skills:
- Regulated Utility Experience: One to three years of progressively responsible experience specifically within a fully regulated utility environment.
- Contractual Analysis: Experience assisting in contract negotiations, responding to RFPs, and representing organizational interests to third-party business entities.
- Trade Lifecycle Knowledge: Familiarity with the full trade lifecycle, including front, middle, and back-office functions and trade support.

Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the New England power market (ISO-NE), NEPOOL rules, and the Vermont regulatory process.
- Ability to perform complex power supply simulations, manage database exchanges, and create/modify resource optimization modeling tools.
- Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to deliver effective public presentations to boards, legislative committees, and regulatory workshops.
- Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously, and meet strict project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to recognize organization-wide priorities and collaborate across departments to achieve our client's long-term power planning goals.
