Grind Fire Defense is seeking reliable, hard-working individuals for the outdoor role of Swamper/Puller to assist with defensible space creation, brush clearing, and wildfire fuel reduction in Northern California. In this highly physical position, you will work directly alongside chainsaw and heavy equipment operators to manually move and clear cut vegetation. This role offers $22/hr on a 4-day, 10-hour shift schedule and is essential to safeguarding homes and communities from wildfire risks while maintaining a safe and efficient job site.

Responsibilities:
Drag, pull, and manually transport cut brush, tree limbs, and heavy vegetation from cutting areas to wood chippers or hauling trucks.
Continuously clear the workspace of hazardous debris to assist arborists and heavy equipment operators.
Rake, gather, and pile brush for controlled pile burns or green waste haul-off.
Perform manual weed pulling and invasive species removal (including blackberries and poison oak).
Load, unload, and organize tools and safety gear at various job sites.
Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow best practices in wildfire prevention.
Working hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Skills:
Previous experience in landscaping, logging, construction, agriculture, or wildland firefighting.
Familiarity with outdoor power equipment and basic maintenance.
Knowledge of local Northern California vegetation and invasive species.
Previous experience working on steep terrains or in forestry management.

Qualifications:
High physical stamina with the ability to perform strenuous manual labor and repeatedly lift, pull, and drag heavy debris (50+ lbs) throughout a 10-hour shift.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying natural environments, steep terrains, and extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, sun).
Excellent reliability, punctuality, and attendance.
Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to follow directions from crew leads.
Strict commitment to workplace safety and following established protocols.
