Spherion Gainesville, FL is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician. This is entry-level manual labor and semi-skilled technical work performing routine building and facility maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g., carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, etc.), as well as performing general cleaning duties and inspecting buildings for various functionalities. Positions allocated to this class report to a designated supervisor and works under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its routine building maintenance and emphasis on preventive facility maintenance activities.

Responsibilities:
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre???established check sheet
- Inspects the grounds and parking areas to be free of leaves and debris; and handles any minor clean-up and/or repairs needed
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
- Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
- Knowledge of tools used in groundskeeping, facility maintenance and construction, including concrete, asphalt drainage or row maintenance
- Ability to perform manual tasks involving physical strength and endurance under variable weather conditions
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; and one (1) year of experience in building/facility maintenance work, including use of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work
- Valid driver license required at time of appointment. Valid Florida Driver License required within 30 days of appointment and at all times while employed in this classification
